Steven and I went to Temple Square a couple weeks ago to see the miniature Salt Lake Temple replica. We went on the perfect day. It had just stopped raining and the weather was wonderful.
The replica was so amazingly detailed! It's like they cut off the side of the temple and let you look inside. VERY cool to see.
I had no idea that the corner spires were staircases. But then, how else would they get from level to level years ago? Crazy cool! Now we are spoiled with elevators and escalators inside.
Of course I remember (and most of you will too) this room the most. I spent many a mutual night doing baptisms for the dead at the Salt Lake Temple through my teenage years. Brings back lots of memories. Especially two bishopric members baptizing me who were about a foot shorter than me. You learn to "crouch". :D
I was amazed at the attention to detail of the Celestial room. It looks EXACTLY like this! I love this room for it's beauty and the peace I've felt while sitting in there. I've sat and talked with my mom in here for hours. I love the Celestial room. I've never felt more that we are all brothers and sisters and Children of Heavenly Father than I have while in the celestial room with my family AND many complete strangers. Man, I need to go again! Everyone should, it's a wonderful place to be.
Here you can see about how big the replica is. They have touch screen TV's around the exhibit that tell you about each room and show you up close pictures of them all. Everyone should see this exhibit! It's in the south visitor's center if you're interested!
They have changed the whole upper floor of the building to relate to temples and tell about their history, specifically the Salt Lake Temple. I loved the Angel Moroni and the exterior close up displays.
We walked around the temple for a while afterwards and just sat and stared. Being on the temple grounds is just so peaceful and makes you ponder everything. I love being on Temple Square!
This is the tree my parents sat on the day they were married. Now it's chained off and supported by metal rods, and they placed a chair in front for people to sit on.
The flowers and landscaping are spectacular. I especially liked this cluster of flowers and really want to find out what they are.
We were leaving just as the sun was setting, and the reflection pool was glowing gold and making the temple shine.
I think the Tabernacle looks great since they refinished the roof. And don't forget the sister missionaries! Temple square wouldn't be the same without them. Steven and I "get" to talk to them every time we go. He knows what I mean by "get" :)
I don't think I've had a better time at Temple Square my entire life. Of course it helps when you have someone's hand to hold as you walk through. That makes everything there that much more amazing.

Yay for lousy cell phone camera pictures!
My new glasses! It's been about 3 years since my last eye exam and my prescription has changed enough that I need new lenses. Woooooo. Steadily declining eyesight. That's something I'm ALWAYS striving for! You know me!
Anyway.
I'll be getting contacts as well because I don't get tension headaches with contacts. Amazingly enough they now make a disposable contact lense for my eyes that isn't 1/2" thick. There goes another $200/year that I don't have. Joy

This is what time I went to bed the other night. this is my dad's alarm clock. Swanky. I'm sleeping in my parents room while they're on their trip to Minneapolis. My dad has a work seminar there. I have to sleep upstairs so I can hear the dogs when they need to go out EVERY HALF HOUR OF THE STINKING NIGHT! Who poops three time a night? Huh? Not anyone normal, but then again, my dogs have never been normal.

95% of the time, you will find this specimen in my purse. A half eaten bag of cheeto fries clasped shut with a bobby pin. Bobby pins can do anything. They should run for president, they'd probably do better than Obama.

lovely Bleeding hearts in my garden. "Technically" it's Rachel's plant, but seeing how she watered it ONCE last year and the thing is living because of ME, I'd say it's mine. Hmm, a thought just occurred. This would be the perfect plant to give to someone who is going through a breakup. Bleeding hearts, get it?

Don't tell my dad, but I let Ace sleep next to me at night. He gets lonely.

Always trim your toenails straight across to prevent ingrowns, never wear the same pair of shoes two days in a row to prevent athletes foot, Wear orthotics for injury prevention, and pray you have United Health care for health insurance. They pay for everything.
I think I've been at work too long.
Signing off now.....

Oh, I didn't get the job I applied for at IHC. Boo.

Flowers! :) :)
I know they'll die in a week or so, I know they are completely overpriced, and are probably crawling with microscopic bugs that will attract all the spiders in my house to my bedroom.
But that my friends, is a price I am MORE than willing to pay when I get GORGEOUS flowers from my boyfriend on my birthday :) Do they go in the kitchen or living room for all to enjoy? I don't think so! Straight to my desk so I can see them every minute I'm home(which is usually spent at my computer these days)

I need a vacation!
It's been a busy month and it's only the 20th!
Randy and Becky were Married on April 2nd, which happened to be the same weekend as Easter, Michelle's birthday, General Conference, and two family Easter dinners. Then My birthday, Steven's birthday, church meetings, job interviews, optometrist appointments, gardening, and plenty of other things happening that have been keeping me busy!
I've got loads of pictures I need to upload, organize, edit and eventually post, so it will take a while. I'll go in batches to keep myself sane.
I'll start off with Steven's birthday.

Preparation for Steven's birthday started way back in (dare I say it) .....December. See, I had this grand idea to make an 8bit (translation: pixelated) quilted pillow of one of the characters from the video game called "Legend of Zelda". I estimated this project taking a day or so. Silly me, oh SILLY me. What originally started at a CHRISTMAS present, ended up as an April birthday present. Lets just say this thing has become my nemesis.
Long story short, I finished the pillow (with some last minute help from Rachel *THANKYOU*) the morning of April 17th, which happens to be Steven's birthday. Here are some progress pictures and then the final outcome.
My homemade "pattern" of sorts. Maybe I should make copies and sell them? Who knows.

The character is "Link" by the way. Hopefully he is discernible to fellow video game enthusiasts.
Steven and his loot from me. I took a chance and got him an original Zippo lighter with his name engraved on it. Months ago he mentioned he always wanted a Zippo. Hoping he still wanted ones 4-5 months later, I got him one. Lets just say I've created a monster. The three days he's owned it I don't think it's been separated from his body. And when I call I hear the clicking from it in the background. I guess I did good :)
Oh, on Valentine's day I decorated Steven's room (I like decorating ok?) with another "thing" from Legend of Zelda. I made the hearts that show your health in the game, but a life-size version to put at the head of his bed. He thought they were so cool he decided to leave them up.
It's now April and they are still up. I guess he wasn't kidding. Oh well, it gave me a chance to get pictures of them because I forgot to in February. Here's the note underneath:

One of Steven's 3 birthday cards. You know when you just find too many that just "fit" the person's personality? Yeah, that happened this year, so I bought them all! I had a little fun with this one and practicing my calligraphy skills. I LOVE calligraphy!
