The Forgotten Post

You know when you happen to come upon your past posts and find a few (okay, a lot) of posts that you started (some even finished) and you never published them? Yeah, that's me today. So, here we go with the past posts that fell to the wayside! I'll stagger them over the next week so you can get a daily fix of my blogging :)

If you're on facebook, (or communicate with me in some way other than my blog) then you probably already know. But for those who haven't heard (and need to be obsessed with my life just a wee bit more) I'M ENGAGED!!!!!!!! :)

Instead of scarring you with a picture of my hideous fingers, I'll just show you my ring instead. No, it's not pink, or colored in any way. I just get a little saturation happy in photoshop :) Behold, my amazing, gorgeous emerald cut ring (That I Absolutely ♥ LOVE ♥)

But, of course with changes in life comes stress, family issues, wedding planning and other fun things....

But life is WONDERFUL and I'm so much in love and couldn't care less about anything right now. I'm twitterpated for Steven and always will be.

And of course, nothing is legit until it's on facebook. I should have disabled my email and text notifications before changing my relationship status though. Quite the bombardment. But again, loving every second of being engaged!

Notice how all the ads magically turned to wedding ads? Yeah facebook "knows" you. (Big brother anyone?)

Steven and I just "get" each other. We have an interesting (sometimes overly cynical & morbid) relationship with each other.

Christmas Eve at his family's party he pulled me to an empty room, started telling me how much he loved me, then I in turn (not realizing he was preparing to propose) started saying how I was still hungry, needed a drink and was feeling claustrophobic with all the people around in a hot room (way to kill the mood, right?). Then all of a sudden he gets down on one knee, and I froze.

I can't remember exactly what he said, but it was along the lines of "Rebecca will you marry me?" to which I replied by almost knocking him over with a forceful hug and started giggling like an absolute retard. Seriously, it was like I was on drugs or something. I'm just not a "giggle" type of person, and I was G.I.G.G.L.I.N.G. Defined as: "To laugh with repeated short, spasmodic sounds", yeah that pretty much sums it up.

I didn't even give him an answer. Finally he said, "So does that mean yes?" because I was two busy processing that I was actually just proposed to by the love of my life, which apparently makes my brain turn to mush and makes me go into "act-like-a-fool-and-start-laughing" mode.

After I sat down and composed myself and started drooling over my ring, we went into the room with his family and told everyone we just got engaged which was followed by tons and TONS of picture taking by his family. Which I love, because you know me and pictures :) Then we went off to my house later and told my family. I think Rachel screamed with excitement if I remember right.

That night I think I stayed up until 5am (partially because I was wrapping gifts :s ) taking pictures of my ring. All in all, I had an AWESOME Christmas last year.

And so begins the new chapter of my life that I've been waiting for. Wedding/Marriage planning and prep! I cannot wait for the future and to be married to Steven. Who else knows exactly what to say to make me melt?

*sniffle sniffle*

Today is the second day in a row I've been moping about home with a head cold. You forget how nice it is to breathe until it's taken away I tell you what. Tissues tissues and more tissues along with some cough drops and and more tissues. So what better to do than blog, right?

This past weekend was the annual YSA Summit (young single adult conference). Rachel and I didn't make it to much this year, but it was still great! Especially the fireside at the SLC Tabernacle. Sis. Jane Clayson Johnson was the speaker and gave an inspiring talk about putting your trust in God and used the metaphor of being a pencil in the hand of God. It made me think of my life and its direction in a new perspective. I even brought a notebook to take notes, but was so enthralled I just listened the whole time. Hopefully they recorded it and I'll be able to find it online somewhere in the future.

Our garden has started to produce (finally) and we had some healthy vegetables the other day. It was DELISH!

We've enjoyed some gorgeous flowers this year too. Thanks to Walmart's bulb clearance sale, we've got some serious flowerage going on.

I can has cheezburger. Can life get better than this? I submit that it cannot.

This guy makes art via post-it note. They are hilarious. thought I'd share a couple.

This is what a manicure done by a 3 & 4 year old looks like. Mind you, these were boys who wanted to do my nails. They are the funniest kids I've ever babysat.

As some of you know, my calling (one of three anyway) is the pimary teacher for the 6 & 7 year-olds. Some days it feels like babysitting, and other times i actually get to teach them something they never knew. It is really rewarding and I love it. I usually get more out of the lesson than the kids because I get to spend time preparing it. I really enjoyed this week's lesson and even learned some new stuff from it. I printed out these tags for the kids and we talked about the blessings of being baptized. I think it's good for me to teach such simple doctrine because it's like a refresher course of the basics for me. Having the Holy Ghost was a point that really stood out as I was teaching. I'm so glad I have that comfort with me for the rest of my life if I'm worthy. Just thought I'd share that with you.

I've got mroe pictures to show you, but alas, blogger is having "internal issues" right now and I can't do anymore but type. I'll be back though. Being sick doesn't give you options for being productive. Until next time!

Too hot, too hot!!! (name that movie, you get a cookie)

Our central air has been broken since the big power outage in Magna last week. It hasn't been such a big deal until today, because we're all home instead of out shopping like yesterday or at church on sunday. I've been sitting in front of my fan on full blast, zombie-like slow movements to prevent any kind of overheating or perspiration, and drinking water by the gallon. At least the ice maker works! Oh, and don't come in my room, or walk past my window, I'm hardly wearing antyhing to reduce body heat :)

I found the BEST deal today! (amazing what you can find with 4 straight hours of internet surfing) Jeans, my size, $20, with a 37" INSEAM! SWEETNESS! Why is this such a big deal you ask? Try finding any type of clothing tall enough for a female 6 feet tall, and then come report your stress levels and findings. Be glad you're not me.

I thought I'd share some findings as I haven't much to ramble about today. Sorry if I've shown these before, I don't keep track really.

Someecards has the best cynical humored cards ever. It's like they read my mind.

So sick of itunes, quicktime, Windows, utorrent UPDATES! My computer is freaking out right now. Is it truly sad that I don't have vista for an OS yet? Heck and windows 7 is out when? Or that I'm still using IE enstead of firefox? I need to go by some RAM. That always makes me feel better. Or a bigger monitor perhaps?

lately watching/reading the news is getting me quite sick of politics. Our government stinks.

DesignCrush.com always some great quotes I steal. Here's one of them:

Ah, 9th ward how I love thee.

I've never seen fight club, though I'd consoder it because Edward Norton is in it and he's quite the hotness of a man. I just really like this quote. It applies to me I think.

K, this next set is a photographer's version of the modern day Disney princess. I loved em. I had the site where I found them, but then lost it to one of the above mentioned unsolicited computer update restarts. So, I'm not sure who did these. I'm not stealing, just sharing.

The whole fam is off to get our temple recommends renewed tonight so we can go to the dedication next month. Plus, now that I think about it, I haven't been there for a LONG time. Who knows if my temple dress even fits anymore. I'm excited fot the Oquirrh temple to be our new assigned one. It's nice and secluded up in Daybreak which is a beautiful area by the mountains. We went to the open house last week while my dad was helping out with the ushering ans stuff. Gorgeous temple inside and out. Kind of small compared to others, but I like it.

Going to see Harry Potter tomorrow with Rachel at 5 Star. Hopefully they have Air conditioning working! I waited to see it becasue I can't stand being in a full theater of kids opening night or several days after. When people laugh uncontrollably at dumb parts, babies crying, or worse yet, CLAP (*punches wall*) I go NUTS!! I think I just don't like being around people in general. Give me an empty theater, no people, silence when it's supposed to be silent and I'll be one happy camper. I'll being going to the first showing to avoid as many people as possible. You're all invited to come with us and to lunch at Subway after! Nevermind that you probably all have to work. Just come.

Off to shower and make some dinner. Potato chip chicken strips to be exact. A new recipe I'm trying out on the siblings and parents. Have a wonderfully air conditioned day!!!

I did it, yes I did.

Guess who got scissor happy today? ME!! I couldn't stand the thickness of my hair anymore. Chop Chop!!!! Ok, so not really chopped, but trimmed 2 inches, thinned beyond belief and and some bangs/sweep for good measure. The sad thing? My hair thinned is still thicker in a ponytail than Rachel's.

Tonight was interesting. I took forever with my hair, and then showered after and it was around 2am. Then while getting ready for bed, my sick mother is upchucking, then my sister calls with a baby with a 103 degree fever wanting to know if she should take him to the ER. CRAZY night. My mom is still sick, but slowly getting better (she's been very sick for 3 weeks now in & out of the hospital) and I've been taking care of her and the house with Rachel. Sometimes you just have busy days.

Two days ago I got to play handy man with my dad. The light socket in my room died and I kind of need light in my room to be able to function. So one trip to Lowe's later, we turned off the power, rewired the socket, installed a new light fixture, and extended the wire to move the light two feet over. Whoever originally installed the light decided the center of the room wasn't a good place for a light. We fixed the confused man's plan. So, now I have a wonderful new light, and an increased knowledge of electrical wiring. I'm so glad my dad knows how to everything :)

Must be off to bed now. I may still be going to an insta care with Michelle tomorrow with her sick little baby. Jocelyn gets married on Thursday! Come to her reception because I'll be there!! She asked me to be at the sign in table to get cards and such. So come talk to me so I won't be bored!!

Enjoy this hilariously true comic.

You wanna do what?

What to post what to post?

I just got back from the dentist. Can you say, "NO CAVITIES!!!!!" woot.

I wonder if the people in a dentists office realize how much humiliation they put you through in less than an hour. More than would normally take a couple months to rack up my humiliation meter. First, they have you sit a chair that is covered in plastic wrap with makes any part of your body not covered in clothing sweat like you're in a sauna.

Second, they lay the chair back so far, you feel like your body will slide off to the floor in one fluid motion. The only thing holding you on is the friction of your sweat against the plastic wrap and you holding onto the handles of the chair for dear life. All while trying to acheive non-sliding motions, you open up wide and voluntarily let someone make your gums bleed with a pointy metal instrument of torture and string they call "floss" wedged deeper than you thought humanly possble for your gums to handle.

And now the climax of our visit, as if the sharp metal objects weren't causing enough pain, they now spray your teeth with cool water and stick a vacuum in your mouth. Suddenly it feels like I've stuck an ice cream on my most sensitive front teeth and left it there for 5 minutes, while my cheek is being suctioned up a tube and I don't know if I'll get it back anytime soon. And who knows how many cancerous cells are forming in my face and brain while they do the routine six x-rays. Isn't that much radiation kind of....ya know.....BAD for you? And we are supposed to go to the dentist two times a year for this kind of exposure?

Really though, it wasn't that bad. Exaggeration runs in my family. My dad had me and my siblings brushing our teeth, flossing, and rinsing with mouthwash since we were about 5. The flossing really keeps any plaque and cavities at bay. I've only had 3 cavities my whole life. My brother Randy only 1. You know the grinding feeling of the tooth polisher against your teeth that makes you want to gag? I've become accustomed to it ever since I started using an electric toothbrush. In reality, the dentist has become a boost of self esteem for me. I always get compliments on my teeth from the dentist and the assistants. I was in and out in less than 45 minutes.

Not bad for someone who used to consider breaking a bone rather than go to the dentist when I was little. We all grow up a little I guess.

At least I got a free toothbrush!

Ode to the Dog

Last night I made a video of compiled pictures and videos of our dogs. Muppy who we had for 16 years, Toby since 2000 and Ace the newbie. the video finished, is huge. Maybe I'll get it online in my photo website. I don't think they accept files that big. I think I may be obsessed with my dogs. I guess it becomes this way for any person. If you have a baby they become the center of your life, if you get a new car it's all you can talk about for months and you find yourself sitting in it even when you have no where to go. Well, for me it's my dogs. Mainly Ace because he's very attatched to me.

He always seems to have mud on his nose from digging.

Toby on the other hand has become quite the lazy dog. I think since we got Ace it's just tired him out. His usual place of residence is the top of our couch. Just like a cat.

Today the Dumpsters from the county were dropped off on our street. I have never seen it fill up so fast! I think all our neighbors (and we) have been collecting junk and just too lazy to take it to the dump. You should see the dumpster by our house. Almost 1/3 more full than all the others. Lets just say we've been lacking the most in the de-junking department. I also got a ton done in my garden today. Lots of squash planted, nastursiums, tomoatoes, morning glory and my fence to keep the dogs out is almost finished. I keep draggin ace over to the garden and forcing him through the gaps to see if he'll fit and if I need to alter it. So far he's too big for all the crevices.

Ace always attacks water whenever it's moving water. Bruno (Our neighbors dog) is a regular visitor at out house and learns from Ace. He learned how to lift his leg when he pees, scratch when he wants to go out, and bite when he plays (which is bad). Lately though, he's become more and more used to water. he used to hate it like a cat, but now he attacks just like Ace. Our little protege

I'll be an aunt in two days! (cross your fingers)

As I've mentioned before, I adore Lio the comic strip. Just one of the recent ones I've found. Awsome.
