Pumpkins!

Michelle & Brian invited us over for dinner and pumpkin carving this past Sunday. Or course Michelle made her annual apple pie which everyone loved as usual. Here are our masterpeices from the night.

My pumpkin took forever and I was totally making it up as I went along. I think it turned out pretty cool. My mom says it's evil because it's scary. I guess my pumpkin is going to Hell.

Here is Steven's pumpkin. It's Sonic!!! He's such an engineer. He drew out a plan, copied it to the pumpkin, and then maticulously scraped & carved it to perfection. I guess that's why he's going into Electrical Engineering.

I wish I got a better phot of MIchelle's. Hers had freckles, and her lid was covered in dots. Very cool.

Brian's as a spooky bat. I'd say that's pretty dang good for free hand and no pattern.

Mine & Steven's pumpkins. We are two cups of coolness.

Check please.

Leaves changing colors? Check

Weather cooling down? Check

Freezing at night from lack of finished walls? Check

Cold/flu symptoms kicking in? Check (I'm cursed, I swear)

Holiday cooking started? CHECK!!!!!!!

If you know me (which you better if you're reading about my life everyday) you know I love to cook. Makes me feel accomplished and Martha-Stewart-ish. Plus, what other activity can you consume the finished product? Without internal injuries that is....

I've been searching high and low for halloween treats and decor because our family never really gets into it anymore. I thought I'd bring the traditions into full swing this year. As a family we used to do a halloween party every year and it was great fun. We're all too old/too busy/too lazy now a days for anything like that.

Not anymore! Here are a few of the ideas I've been brewing up for our party.

How cool is this decoration for the front yard?

I can totally use my gingerbread cookie cut out for this one. Genius!

A cool way to use my birdbath in the fall

Candy corn pudding! Butterscotch, banana cream and cool whip

Balloons, glue, and string. Some ghostly creations. coolness.

Take a melon baller and an apple.....

Mini caramel Apples. SO CUTE!!!! and no seeds or apple core to worry about!

Last night my mom and I picked every vegetable from the garden. Monday we're pulling out all the plants. We got lots of squash and pumpkins, plus the usual mystery vegetables and fruit. We should have quite the fall get up on our front porch.

Off to get primary stuff ready for tomorrow and look through some books I just got from the library. Lots of hair designs and updos, so be waiting for a post on that!

Boo!

Yesterday was the loverly celebration of dead people day, more commonly known as Halloween.
Shell's party was great and I had a fun time. We watched 1408, carved pumpkins(which were surprisingly easy to cut through. Yay old pumpkins!) decorated cookies, had too much junk food and made fun of eachother's costumes. Genious men in the group were clueless as to what we all dressed up as.

Figures.

I spent the whole day before the party making sugar cookies. My sister michelle actually complimented me on them and said they were better than store bought! It's quite the compliment as she is quite the picky eater and master cook herself. I didn't realize until after the party that I only got a few pictures. None of Tony in his costume or joe in his (as lame joe) Trash.

I guess my parents didn't get many trick-or-treaters. They used one bag of candy. Now we have 4 bags of candy floating around the house that we are using as a meal replacement. Kind of sad really. Adults desereve the next day candy gorging too right? I think I've overdosed on KitKats and am getting a canker sore from shock tarts.

Here we have Shell as Lizzie Borden(did I spell that right?) bloody axe and all. Seeing how Michelle is the morbid dead-liking-person we all know her to be, I guess this costume isn't too surprising. It rocked. you know it.

Karin as a mind reading gypsy-fortune teller. She sounded like santa when she walked. Cool shtuff. The flash was way too bright on my camera so she looks like a zombie as well. perfect for halloween!

The cookies I decorated at the party. Love the Madonna ghost no? How bout the headless ghost with a pumkin?

My costume as Queen Amidala. For all those people who don't remember, it's from the 1st episode of star wars at the end when they have the victorious parade. Just watch the movie. Rachel helped me tremedously with the costume. Shweet if i do say so myself. Oh, I'm not bucked-teeth or biting my lip here. I had the white lips and hadn't done the lipstick yet.

Tony's puking pumpkin. gross

Karin's pumpkin. Ahh how cute.

My scary pumpkin with fangs and M & M's for eyes. Cool eh?
Here are his rockin earsAnd the grand finale, Michelle's pumkin, thus murdered. I guess killing her parents wasn't enough she kills plants too.
